Had a great time with Benny!

We started off with a market tour, including trying a few things at the market flavoured sticky rice, coconut pancakes and spicy Chiang Mai sausage. One of the others in the group was curious about ant eggs yep! We were 'lucky' as they're highly seasonal so he bought some at the market. Benny was happy to cook the eggs he'd bought for us to try, so I suspect that you wanted to buy something in the market that caught your eye, if it was fairly straightforward to cook, Benny would show you how.

I really liked that we got to choose from three dishes in each type. This meant that between us we tried most of the options available , and we got to see a wider variety of ingredients and how things are made than if we'd all been making the same thing.

For each dish, you get a box of things to cook with, tailored to the dish and if applicable meat/veggie option you've chosen. The very basic prep is done for you ie you get the right amount of ginger/tumeric/galangal, the chicken/tofu is already cut into bite sized pieces, the shallot is already peeled, noodles and chillis presoaked. I quite liked this as, quite frankly I would rather spend time on things I don't know how to do ie cook Thai food than things I can do cut chicken, but one of the others would have preferred to have done a bit more from scratch as they thought it felt a bit too much like just assembly. Again, personally I felt that the amount of prep was fine, but I'm mentioning this in case it might be something that would annoy you.

This was a great cooking course. Benny made cooking all the dishes easy and fun. We were all amazed how well the dishes turned out. The small group size means theres lots of personal attention from Benny. A really fun time.

Had a great time with Benny and did some wonderful cooking. Lots of food - you certainly don't go hungry and it's surprisingly easy when Benny is telling you what to do every step of the way. The day was spent at a relaxed pace, lots of rest time between courses but please arrive hungry!! Benny is a lovely host and together with her mum and Nan, everything works like clockwork and the set up is fantastic in a gorgeous peaceful environment. Thoroughly recommended.
