You can do better without this. To take this tour you need to find the booth at the train station, which is not quite where it is described as being. The train trip is fine, and the bus the standard red one was waiting. There was no information given as we went into the city. The Cathedral Tour was AWFUL. We mingled inside waiting for the guide, who then gave a BRIEF bilingual tour by repeating his Spanish version in English, paragraph by paragraph. The audioguide would have been better. The rest of the sites were interesting enough, but all the package did was pay for admission. It would have been just as easy to buy a round trip train ticket, your own map of Toledo, and visit the sites on your own.
The 2 stars is for the tour package, not Toledo. Toledo was wonderful. The tour package was OK, but I felt the description was misleading. First, it says Time is no constraint during your independent exploration as you can travel back to Madrid at a time suited to your schedule. When you book, you select a train time and it is not transferrable to any other times, so there is not flexibility in your schedule. Not a big deal, but you should know. Second the description says Learn about Toledo on a coach tour with an onboard guide and on a hop-on hop-off tour Actually your ticket is for a single ride, not the hop on, hop off tour. The bus takes your around a road on the opposite side of the river with one stop for a picturesque view, then you want to get off at the one stop that is in town. But you can't get back on and to return to the train station on this bus, you will need to take a taxi back to the train station or it is a very long walk after a day of walking. The onboard guide is also a recording with headphones. Third, we got a voucher for the meal, and nowhere does it say the voucher is only good until 4 PM. We went to one of the restaurants at 4:30 and were told the voucher was no good after 4pm. Finally, I knew this was an independent trip and didn't offer a lot of hand holding, but I thought I would be purchasing something that was a little better than the sum of it's parts being packaged together. Maybe there would be at least a package of information about Toledo and a description of the tickets you purchased, information about the restaurants you can choose and the time the restaurant voucher is good for. But the tour is not greater than the sum of it's parts. The parts that the package includes, basically a train ticket, a single bus ride, and a Toledo card are good, but the tour has no added value above these parts.
If you are considering a guided tour for the Cathedral, DO NOT BUY! We booked this tour because of advertisement of a tour guide for the Cathedral who never showed up. I suspect that this is a frequent practice by this tour company. The tour office closed before our evening return to Madrid.
Since we were in the South of Spain, we wanted to add a visit to Morocco, and this was an easy way to do it. Our guide, Lupita, picked us up at our hotel and from there it was about a 2 1/2 hour ride to port. She was outstanding and shared interesting information along the way. She was extremely helpful in helping us check in at the port. The ferry ride is only about 40 minutes and another guide met us when we arrived to help us with our passport. Be prepared for long lines for the passport.
Once we were gathered, a tour guide in Morocco then collected us and to give us an overview and took us for a quick ride and photo opportunity on a camel. That part was fun! Our guide then drove us to the old part of the city for a walking tour. It was beautiful and full of color. The walking tour was interesting and our guide was easy to understand and well informed. We then had a traditional Moroccan lunch, which was a great experience. Once the tour was over, I was hoping to see more, but we were disappointed in the remainder of the afternoon, which turned in to a shopping adventure. Our first stop was a rug shop. This would have been fine to see, but it turned in to a sales demonstration. The next stop was to a pharmacy where they sold herbs that was also a demonstration, and the 3rd stop was an antique shop of sorts that also sold jewelry. This is not how we wanted to spend the short time we had in Tangiers. After that it was time to go back to the port. We would have much preferred walking and learning more about Tangiers vs in shops.
This is not a place where you want to be with out a guide. They help navigate the area, but you also have so many people on the streets coming up to you to try to sell stuff that they help protect you a bit from that, so I am glad we had a tour. However, the time spent after lunch was a complete disappointment. We were happy to see Lupita when we arrived back at the port and she once again was extremely helpful to help us get back to the bus. She was a welcome site by then!
We arrived back in our hotel late in evening, so be prepared for a long day. We would also recommend that if you don't eat lunch, that you eat some snacks on the ferry or take some with you. We arrived back at our hotel after 11:00 pm which was too late for dinner.
chose this tour after much discussion with one of the agents.it was difficult to find the ticket office at atocha station to exchange our voucher for the train tickets and toledo card.originally wanted to take the 10.08 train and return on the 9.30 train but viator wouldnt let me do this as we didnt want to pay extra for the lunch.the train was fast and when we got to toledo,we were supposed to pick up the tour bus to take us to the city centre.we didnt know which bus to take, but we got on the one that was waiting.by wearing a green sticker a guide was supposed to meet us from the bus and walk us to the cathedral for a guided tour, this didnt happen and we made our own way to the cathedral.the guide at the cathedral said she didnt see us when we got off the bus.we did the tour and then did all the other things included in our tour.feel the trip was very disorganised and overpriced, better to just pay for the train and go round on your own and just go in the places you want to visit.it was all too rushed, all because viator have a stupid rule about what time train you can take if you dont buy the overpriced lunch!very dissapointed.
