We found this tour online, quite by accident, It was the Private Transfer 3 Hour which was closer to a 4 Hour tour from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Civitavecchia Cruise Port and after reading the reviews thought this would be a good tour for us. We were wrong.
THIS TOUR WAS AMAZING. Dario was our Tour Guide. He was a wealth of information on everything Rome. He was funny and smart and seemed genuinely excited to share all of this historical information with us. He brought us to places we asked about and others that he knew we would want to see Trevi Fountain, The Collosseum, Spanish Steps. We were able to get out whenever we wished to take photos. He took all of our group shots during the tour there were five of us so he took at least 5 shots from each of our cameras and phones at each stop. He patiently answered all of our questions and even brought us to a lovely small ristorante for a iced cappuccino.
By the end of this tour we honestly felt we had made a new friend. When I return to Rome, I will definitely book my tour with Viator and I will absolutely ask for Dario.
Everything went just as it should have!! Driver was at airport as expected/described on voucher. He did a fabulous job of bringing us around to sites we wanted to see around Rome before heading to port. We got an extra day of sightseeing vs. just going straight from airport to ship with cruise line transfer. I would HIGHLY recommend using this service to anyone who wants to see as much as possible in a short period of time.
Driver was also fantastic about dropping us, describing which way to go to see what we wanted to see car unable to access, where to meet up again and continue on. Well worth the money!
I was due to arrive at FCO on 10/25/2017 at 1030am, but with a four hour delay in JFK due to weather, I knew I would not arrive on time in Italy. I called my husband from NY, and he emailed the transfer company in Italy to advise them of the delay. When I finally did arrive in Rome almost four hours later than my original arrival time, the driver was right where he said he would be outside customs in the arrival hall. It was quite a hike to the car in the parking garage for a 77 year old and once the luggage was put in the car, we were off Civitavecchia. The car was fine, but the driver did not know where he was going, so he kept checking his phone for directions. Once we got into Civitavecchia, he could not find the hotel. He removed the luggage from the car and my companion and I stood there with all our luggage hoping someone would direct us to the hotel. It was all of 100 or less steps from where we were standing. I never should have tipped him. I would like to suggest that the drivers know where they are going before being sent to transfer anyone.
Scheduled a 0900 pickup as our flight was scheduled to arrive at 0745. Our flight was almost and hour EARLY. Customs was a mess and it took almost an hour to clear. Thinking we had until 0900 I wasn't concerned. At 0845 my phone began to blow up with texts stating our driver had been waiting since 0700 and was going to be released at 0915 if we did not make contact with him. Long story short we found him after getting our luggage and making our way to the area outside of the baggage claim area. We had 8 in our party. Driver was somewhat miffed as the first thing he said to me was What happened in there I explained the customs mess. No worries. Small bump to start things out. I would recommend Viator and will use them again they do a great job.
Our flight to Rome was 3 hours late arriving but our driver was waiting for us in the Arrivals hall and got us to the Cruise Port with time to spare. Our driver was courteous and took us right to the check-in area inside the cruise port - which is quite a way from the entrance to the cruise port. Definitely, the best way to get from the airport to the cruise port.
After taking the red-eye from the US, it was quite a relief to be met at baggage and brought to our car and then destination. When we arrived at our B and B no one was there to meet us so our driver made the call and waited till we were all set which was very helpful. He was professional, courteous and attentive. The car was a spotless Mercedes. Beyond our expectations.
