Très bon guide -- Histoire détaillée des deux sites -- Vivement recommandé

, avr. 2015

Le guide touristique était bien informé et la visite était à la fois intéressante et amusante !

This tour was a great way to see Pompeii and Herculaneum, definitely the way to go. Desiree made this a fun and informational tour, I learned a lot about both locations and nothing felt forced or gimmicky.

It was hard to find a tour that covered both locations. It was either one or the other. I was happy to find one that covered both and had lunch in between. We were picked up near our hotel so that was a nice inclusion. There were only a few people in our minivan, which was a relief specially having been on cramped and crowded tour buses before. The van ride was long (about an hour or so) but comfortable. Our guide was friendly and spoke good English. We first headed to Pompeii and had 2 hours guided tour. It was a very comprehensive informative tour. The walking along the ancient rugged roads could be a problem to older or walk-averse people but otherwise a breeze for most. They say it is always crowded in Pompeii. Yes, there were a lot of people but Pompeii is vast and open so it did not feel claustrophobic, like in the Sistine Chapel tour (if you have been, you know what I mean). After 2 hours, we went for lunch at a nearby restaurant. The food was mediocre at best, but it nourished us for the day. We then headed to Ercolano for yet another 2 hours of sad and catastrophic stories. The empath in me made the tour hard to endure. Overall, the tour was all worth it, time and money wise. I recommend this 2 in 1 tour. It would have even been better if we did the Naples Archeological museum tour the next day as well. It would have tied it all together. Plus, we would have had the opportunity on the side to eat the famous and authentic napolitan pizza and caprese cake. Oh well, next time. This tour is definitely a big bang for your buck that I highly recommend.p

Michel our guide was obviously a professor of archeology and history. He was also so very professional and stood out among all other guides we were in proximity of. He had a real and spontaneous love for these sites. His attitude and personality made the tour. We would never had gained the knowledge and experience from any other guide. The connection to the small group tour was easy, the driver was very good my husband suffers motion sickness easily and the food for lunch was great at a wonderful location. This was by far the best tour in our three weeks in Italy....thanks to the guide.

The tour and the guide were great. We learned things that we never knew and were wowed by the place and the descriptions. We felt that the tour was a high point of our trip to Sorrento. My husband was so keen to go on this trip and his expectations were totally met!

Our guide was wonderful. The price posted does not include entrance fees to the sites. It was quite expensive.

Excellent tour, but it should be scheduled so as to avoid rain and heat. There is no shelter from the elements. Footing is very uneven, so this is not a walk for the frail or handicapped.

Emanuela our guide, and Luca our driver, were both quite engaging, and good at their jobs. We tipped them both.
Both Pompeii and Herculaneum were worth seeing. I would have been disappointed to travel this far from western Canada and not visited them both.
What made the excursion seem as though it should have cost less:
1 The heavy traffic and the uninteresting countryside on the way. Nobody's fault at Viator.
2 The poor quality lunch provided. Viator could have done better.
3 The fact that an extra 24 per person was required, above and beyond the price of the expensive excursion, for admission tickets. Viator could have included those in its price, or made those fees abundantly clear at the time of booking. Tacky, Viator.
I'm happy that we saw those two famous sites.

This was an amazing tour, and Desiree was a terrific tour guide. She was so knowledgeable and imparted great anecdotes throughout the tours of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Both sites were just stunning and mind-blowing - their history is incredible. It was VERY HOT, but Desiree did a great job of always trying to find some small amount of shade for us to stand in as she imparted facts about what we were seeing. Our lunch was in a nice restaurant right next to Pompeii's entrance. Lunch was quite good and plentiful - a salad of grilled vegetables, pasta and ice cream. It was a welcome respite from the heat and walking to be able to sit in a/c comfort! I can't say enough about our enjoyment of this tour!
